The star has donated the entirety of his £25,000 honor cash to the trust for venues, which functions to save the Britain's independent live music spots.

The star was presented with the award on mid-October as his latest record his work was declared the best record of the past year.

He has chosen to give the cash to the MVT, in acknowledgment of the crucial part small stages played in his initial steps.

"I personally would not have achieved what I am doing today if it wasn't for all the performances I did around the region, and elsewhere, when I was starting out," stated Sam Fender. "These spaces are legendary, but they are struggling."

Beginning in 2023, at least 150 of these venues have shut down – roughly 16% of the whole industry in the UK.

In the last year, well-known musicians including Pulp, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all supported the MVT in its initiatives to help venues survive, by applying a minor surcharge to their admission fees, which goes to help independent venues.

He also took part, raising over £100k on his live tour to assist numerous local spots across England, Scotland, and Wales.

These funds assisted venues that were confronting possible closure due to issues caused by flooding, fire incidents and bereavements, as well as licensing issues, conflicts and neighbor objections.

Other venues obtained funding support in upgrading facilities and technical equipment that helped artists and fans.

"The notion that funds from concerts in big venues helps the local stages, where it kicks off for musicians like me, is just common sense," the star has said.

He is not the first artist to donate his honor winnings to charitable organizations.

In they earned the award in the mid-90s for their record the album, vocalist Cocker announced that the group would give their prize money to the organization War Child.

That year, musician Ms Dynamite shared her bounty across a few organizations, including the children's charity and a Sickle Cell charity.

"And I contributed a grand to my local community centre, to their gymnastics program, because I did gymnastics when I was growing up and they required new equipment," the artist shared with a publication.

In recent years, Ezra Collective gave their prize money to the local youth club that nurtured their group, as well as other grassroots music organisations.

And winners that year the group donated their winnings to a charity for MS after a friend was identified with the illness.

"The victory was sufficient," said singer Small. "The money was the bonus but we didn't need the extra, because we had the honor. So our success impacted somebody else's life."

Last week, the MVT revealed it had saved two local spots in that region, by transferring them to public stewardship.

The Joiners in Southampton and The Croft in that location were acquired under the community ownership scheme, which is funded by the arts council and enthusiasts who buy "shares" in the properties.
